I want to do a few posts about what we can do to survive the current financial crisis. What I am going to suggest in this series will not save the economy, but hopefully will make a big difference to you. And I am going to start at the end, so as to link with yesterday’s post.
As I said yesterday, there is a lot I would love to say, I just don’t know how. So let me add one more thing, I think we owe it to ourselves and our families to get involved in a low risk, part-time business opportunity. (Why don’t you check out the Make Extra Money Easy link?).
Let me tell you why I think that.
This site has been going for almost a year now! And every single post was to a lesser or greater extend about wealth. But mostly it was about information, perspectives, attitudes and mindsets about wealth.
And that is very valuable, because if you read with care and critically and assimilated some of the things I said, you have acquired an invaluable asset!
There is nothing that says you cannot lose all your money and everything you own. It is happening to many people all over the world right now. People are retrenched and without income cannot keep up bond payments and car repayments. In the end the banks reposes everything and a family who was used to a good life ends on the street, depending on charity. What a terrible place to be!
Also very scary, because most of us depend on our money as a source of security! And it is not very good security.
But there are two things nobody can ever take away from you. The first is your health. Saying nobody can take it away is stretching it a bit, but please understand what I am trying to say. Your health is important, because as long as you are healthy you can work and earn money. So look after your health (YOU TOO, PIET MARITZ!!!)
The other thing that nobody can take away, is your skills, your knowledge, your mindset, your attitude. And the skills and experience you acquired in your job. The skills and experience you acquired in a part-time business. The skills and experience you acquired from attending to your own money and investing and managing your own money.
And you will learn two very important skills while running your own part-time business. Firstly, you learn the skill of managing and administrating a business and the processes involved. You learn a very important discipline. I think one reason why so many start-up businesses fail, is because people have not mastered this skill and don’t realise the importance of this skill.
The second important skill you will acquire in a part-time business, is selling. NO business can survive without selling. No matter what you do, at some point money needs to be exchanged for a product or a service or information. Way too many people think selling is a dirty word. Way too many people have a problem selling something. And once again, when they (by force) end up in their own business, they cannot sell enough to make the business work!
If you can sell, you will never go hungry! There will always be something to sell. And you don’t need your own product even!
These two skills that I mentioned above, is totally “transferable” and can be exported to any country in the world. If you can sell in South Africa, you can do so in the UK, USA and Russia. I am not suggesting that there will not be problems, but once you acquire the skill, you will also be able to overcome the problems.
That is why I believe your biggest wealth is: health and business skills.
Tomorrow I will begin at the beginning!
