Creating Wealth. That is what we are all about. Creating Financial Freedom.
Is there a difference between “wealth” and “rich”? I don’t know what the dictionary says, but I use these two terms differently.
I am not looking to be rich. To me rich people are people with a very good income who live a very “rich” lifestyle” and who has the outward trappings of wealth, but not the “inner-workings” of wealth. They live a lifestyle mostlly financed with debt. And there is nothing, except a very good income, supporting the debt. When you look at the balance sheet, though, there is no real assets.
I aspire for wealth. Wealthy people sometimes also have the flashy cars and the luxury holidays and the expensive suit and shoes, and they may also have the high income. They can drive the Ferrari and a Lamborghini. And it is in all probability also financed! But if you look at the balance sheet, it is a totally different ball game. They own things of value.
Rich people basically live from pay check to pay check. If they lost there income, they would very quickly have nothing left. And very often they will not have the one thing that REALLY makes you wealthy – the skill to acquire wealth – to help them back on their feet.
Wealthy people, as defined above, may also lose their income and would also suffer for it, but they would still have their assets!
But ultimately wealth is not about money and things. Wealth is about YOU. Wealth is your mindset. Your attitude, your skills and ability to generate income and to build wealth. That is the difference between the father who build an empire and the son who loses it. The dad had real wealth, the son was rich. He did not have the father’s wealth skills to create wealth, to build and maintain wealth.
The question is, how do we acquire these skills? By reading, watching, observing – and doing.
More about this on Monday.
