In comments there are sometimes very good tips that should not just disappear between posts.  That is what this page is for.

Gerhardt commented on the post Buy or Rent? on 5 November 2008.  It is an excellent tip.  What Gerhardt says is that you can achieve the same goal of investing and renting buy buying a property with granny flats.  Then you have tenants helping you pay and the money you pay towards your “quarters” is like rent, except it is not wasted.  Excellent!
